This thing called purpose

All the dreams in the world mean nothing if you can't pursue them.

Hello readers! Your girl is back again like she never left. The wait is over and thanks for the encouragement so far. I apologize for my inconsistency, I promise to do better. I bring to you another intriguing topic. I can't wait to read your views too.

Let's talk about 'the purpose of existence'. What is the reason why something exists? If to exist means to set aims, intentions and goals for oneself. Therefore, one's purpose in life is connected to the reason one exists. But it goes beyond just your daily responsibilities.

Don’t allow anyone to push you too hard till you do what is outside of your purpose. It will seem as though one's denying humanity the pleasure it deserves. Funny enough, your purpose might not align with where you are and what you are doing presently. It takes a lot of conscious effort and observation to know what you are made for.

For instance, I am a student of Adult Education Studies. And I am honestly not doing badly; especially with the career path, I have chosen. But people tend to have funny reactions to our performance. Comments like 'it's because they are not studying a professional course'. I don't know what they mean by 'professional course' in the first instance. Because all jobs and courses are professional to start with. But anyway we all know they are referring to courses like Law, Medicine, engineering et al.

I am not surprised though. We are in Nigeria. We help give people interpretations of their purpose and achievements. This is one reason parents force children, out of their interest, to disciplines they don't want to engage in. They believe if it's not one of the courses listed above, success isn't guaranteed.

While pursuing our interest on the journey of purpose, we need to be conscious by focusing mainly on ourselves and not what others think of us. Avoid being jealous of other people as well.

If you are still studying, although good grades don't always guarantee ess in life they help...a lot. Then, we can remain hopeful and strive by working hard. Remember this grade gives you edges over others.

Lots of people talk about purposeful life but only a few stick to living it. We do not need to find a purpose before we live it. We should live for a purpose, no matter where we find ourselves. Life is too short and unfair to live without living one's purpose and live it with meaning and impact. I also learnt that purpose isn't just a thing. But varieties of things people benefit from as a result of your existence.

I need to start with the fact that limiting your belief is the first downfall to not live the life you are made to live. Lots of time, you will feel like you are incapable of doing things you wish to do, and other times your focus is what people will say. In this instance, it can be said that you do know your purpose but struck my doubt, in Adaora Mbelu's book "This thing called purpose" she said, “Self-talk is crucial to capacity building because it starts with your mind first. If your mind doesn’t believe the possibilities, then you cannot move forward.”
So you have to carry possibility and positivity around you just like you would to your skin.

How do you overcome impossibility and get to start doing the DOINGS?

--Firstly, you are responsible for your growth. Expand and develop competence in areas that goes beyond where you are present.

--Have a reason why you should always do your best.

--Ask your friends and family what they think about you, you will find out they have few things to say in common, pick up from there.

--Ask yourself what your strengths are (things you would do, with little or no effort)  and make use of your gift.

--Think about a skill you are good at and passionate about, leverage on it and be good at it, then monetize it.
Skill monetization also requires more mastering for effectiveness in monetary and delivery terms.

--what are your dreams and how achievable are they?

-- What accomplishment are you most proud of?

--Is there a message you will love yourself to pass in your lifetime? What's it?

--Go away from things that pull you away from practising.

--Lastly, get on the journey of self-discovery to discover your true potentials. it's important that you find yourself, accept yourself so that your purpose can reveal itself.

Having said all this, take time to have a YOU and YOU session, ask yourself what's stopping you from living your purpose, what's stopping you from exhibiting your potential. The answers you give determines the step to take.

Before I go,  Fabienne Fredrickson said  'The things you are passionate about aren't just random, they are your calling'
Don't forget to hold on to that.

  6. It was a good read! One thing I have learned is to constantly re-discover my purpose and not let people define it for me. Also, I shouldn't use people's success as a yardstick to judge how well or bad I'm doing.
